Animal Police Israel

The Israel Society for the Protection of Animals is a registered non-profit organization with the primary mission of helping Israel enforce animal cruelty laws, and punish animal abusers.

Good Laws Are Not Enough

The Israel Animal Cruelty Law enacted in 1994. The Animal Cruelty Law made abuse of animals a crime punishable by three years of imprisonment. However, Israel lacks the resources to adequately enforce this law.

Our Mission: Enforcement and Deterrence

The ISPA actively recruits, trains, and equips Volunteer Animal Police Officers. Our Volunteer Police Officers are the only members of Israeli Law Enforcement trained to deal with violations of laws regarding cruelty to animals. In 2008, after two years of negotiations and intensive police training, 40 of our volunteers began their service with the Kefar Saba Police Department.

Our Mission: Education and Awareness

Enforcement of the Animal Cruelty Law is the primary mission of the ISPA. However, we believe that enforcement of the Law and deterrence must go hand-in-hand with public education and awareness.
Our Educational Volunteers visit schools, universities and Army bases and provide in-service training for members of the law enforcement and justice communities.

We Need Your Help

Our teaming up with the police has already had a noticeable affect on their awareness, respect and ability to actively enforce the Animal Cruelty Law.
However, the commitment of our volunteers is offset by our severe lack of funding. We need your help in order to provide equipment, training, and educational materials for our volunteer police officers and educators. Without your support, we will not be able to fulfill our goal of expanding throughout Israel, and ensuring that every living thing in Israel is provided with rights and protection.
